If you own a restaurant and haven’t completed your Google Business Profile, you may be missing out on some valuable opportunities to improve your organic search engine optimization (SEO).
How do I setup my Google business profile?
Search for your business using Google. If you don’t show up, click that Listing not found message in order to create a new listing for your business. If it does show up, good news: You’re halfway there! Next, you need to set up and verify ownership of your listing. Start by clicking Own This Business on the map or on a business page. The listing should then change from [Active] to [Under Review]. A verification postcard will arrive at your address within 7-10 days, so keep an eye out for it. Once received, fill out all required information and send back as soon as possible; if you aren’t signed up with your Google Business Profile already (it’s free), do so now.
If you verify via telephone, you’ll be able to claim ownership immediately. If you choose to do so, a verification specialist will ask for your business’s name, address and phone number before transferring you to a manager who will then ask for additional details. If a manager is not available, Google suggests leaving a voicemail message with your information. Make sure to call at least one hour during normal business hours in your area, as that’s when most owners are likely to be present.
